Drake Signs To Young Money

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The hat is finally out of the bag, but this is not shocking to me what so ever.

Well, the wait is over: After weeks of speculation, Drake has chosen to go with the home team and sign with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Records, according to a source close to the situation. The deal breaks down as a joint venture between Young Money and Cash Money, with Universal Republic distributing. Drake’s management was adamant that he should be viewed as an independent artist, although Universal will distribute the project. – MTV

I felt he was going to sign with Universal for the longest. It would had been cool if he ended up on Def Jam, I think that label would have been a great look for him with tons of great people behind him. Universal only acting as distribution is a lie. I know they are going to have a very active role in his career, how you think he got on the radio with “Best I Ever Had”… that was a “label” doing and him being financially set up to invest tons of money. Its one thing to end up on the radio in your hometown, but all over the nation is a different story. To all my up and coming artists who are independent, please do not let Drakes success think you can do it the same way. He was set up in ways majority of artist who are trying to get signed do not have access to.
